Ann Coulter: Not a "pretty girl" and not a Christian, just a cruder, ruder Phyllis Schlafly

Ann Coulter is the one who has made her looks a topic of discussion. She said Republican women are "pretty girls" and Democratic women are, well, let's hear her say it, in the article that got her fired from USA Today:

"My pretty-girl allies stick out like a sore thumb amongst the corn-fed, no make-up, natural fiber, no-bra needing, sandal-wearing, hirsute, somewhat fragrant hippie chick pie wagons they call "women" at the Democratic National Convention."

So Coulter thinks she's pretty? Go figure, I always thought she resembled a drag queen who did a pretty good imitation of looking like a woman, but you can never replicate the real thing, so there was always something that left you wondering.

What leaves you wondering is simple biology. It's the way male and female faces are made - there are distinct characteristics for each. If you gave Coulter a buzz cut and took off all that heavy makeup she wears, many would pick "male" when asked to identify her gender by looking at her face (and of course, her famous neck!)

To be considered a "pretty girl" one expects at least the "girl" part will be covered (or woman, as most females over the age of 18 like to be called). Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and is way overrated in our society, but hey, Coulter brought up the subject of looks, not me.

And why does she do it? "I don't think I've ever encountered an attractive liberal woman in my entire life", she has said. What's with the obsession with attractiveness? Like many female Republican pundits, Coulter routinely uses sex to promote anti-female views:

"Women," she says, laughing. "It's true. It would be a much better country if women did not vote. That is simply a fact. In fact, in every presidential election since 1950 - except Goldwater in '64 - the Republican would have won, if only the men had voted." As for her own life, she insists she would love to be a traditional 1950s woman... if only she could meet the right man. If that happened, she would give up her work "instantly".

and:

"So in a maniacal pursuit of equality... these querulous little feminists stripped women of the sense that they can rely on the institution of marriage and gave men licence to discard their wives. But at least women can choose to be pigs now, too! This is what happens when you allow women to think about public policy."

And what about the rest of her piece USA Today balked at publishing?

Ann Coulter is also the one who made her religion a topic for discussion. Coulter said her allies are not just the "pretty girls" but "the ones wearing crosses". And has since written a book called "Godless" in which she charges Democrats are, um, godless (never mind that the vast majority of Democrats are Christian or Jewish).

So Coulter says she's a Christian? Of course, Bush and the Republicans in Congress say they are Christians, and look at all the horrible things they do to the non-wealthy. But still, Coulter has been way out there with her hate talk, so I was surprised that she even bothered to pretend.

Let's pass for the moment on the fact that the minister and congregation of the church she claims to attend have no recollection she was ever there. And that many who wear crosses would think twice before adorning themselves this way if they thought an allegiance with the likes of Ann Coulter was in any way presumed.

Wearing the cross symbolizes an allegiance not with Ann Coulter, but with Jesus. And his teachings - you cannot separate Jesus from his teachings, which run counter to Coulter's views:

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

Of the 9-11 widows: "The Witches of East Brunswick... I have never seen people enjoying their husband's deaths so much... And by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy."

"I think we ought to nuke North Korea right now just to give the rest of the world a warning. I just think it would be fun to nuke them..."

Ann Coulter is Phyllis Schlafly updated for the new millenium. Cruder and ruder than Schlafly, but eerily the same. Both self-hating females spewing xenophobic views under the guise of false Christianity. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
